A direct Relationship between Drinking Alcohol and Cancer

by
Scientists have long linked alcohol to certain diseases, but a new study has highlighted the serious impact of drinking alcohol, pointing out that there is a "direct relationship" between drinking alcohol and cancer.

A study conducted at the University of Cambridge revealed that alcohol destroys the DNA found in stem cells in the body, after the scientists injected rats with diluted alcohol, according to Reuters.

Professor KJ Patel said: "When drinking alcohol, the body analyzes it and converts it into energy that accumulates in the form of a toxin that attacks DNA in a ferocious manner, and destroys the genetic data, which represents the basic component of life".

He also added: "When we got rid of that enzyme in mice, a small percentage of alcohol was capable of causing significant destruction in blood-producing cells".

He pointed out that there are changes in the chromosomes found in the blood that was produced from those cells, which is important because these chromosomes (DNA) is the main reason that "aging" cells turn into cancer cells.

The study showed that alcoholic drinks increase the risk of breast cancer and bowel cancer, as well as 5 other types of cancer.

Study: Obese People Are Less Stressed Than Others

by
British scientists have found that those suffering from obesity and subsequent health risks, such as diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure, are less susceptible to tension and nervousness.

The scientists concluded this conclusion after studying the largest genetic database in the UK.

Scientists from the University of Bristol said their findings were not conclusive, although it was accepted among experts, particularly as it was observed that those with high burn rate, are more prone to anxiety and depression.

"People who are malnourished find it hard to contain their feelings," said researcher Dasha Nichols. What came out of the study that obese people were happier did not surprise her.

Britain has the highest rates of obesity, as it is the highest country in the European Union in the injury of its citizens to the health problem, which affects 30 percent of women, and about 27 percent of men.

A New Tool That Identifies Cancer In 10 Seconds

by
Scientists at Texas University, revealed a pen-shaped tool that can identify cancer tissue in 10 seconds.

The pen, called "MasSpec Pen" works to accelerate the testing process up to 150 times faster.

According to the media reports, that the tests carried out on 253 cancer patients took about 10 seconds and were found that it 96 percent accurate during that time period.

Tests included tissue related to breast, lung, thyroid and ovarian cancer, and scientists explained that each type of cancer had its own molecular structure.

The pen shows the word "natural" or "cancer" automatically on the computer screen, and may show the name of the subtype for some cancers.

Although obesity is one of the factors contributing to the risk of cancer, the reasons for this have not been fully explained. According to a study published by a specialized medical website.

The study pointed out that one of the proteins that come from fat in the body may cause a turning non-cancerous cell to a cancer cell.

Researchers at Michigan State University found that the lower layer of abdominal fat produces a protein that promotes tumor growth more when compared to subcutaneous fat.

According to the study, it is estimated that more than a third of the population are obese. Where obesity has been linked to many types of cancer including breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, uterine cancer and kidney cancer.

But the study clearly indicated that weight gain is not necessarily the main factor to determine the risk of cancer, and shows that the body mass index may not be the best indicator of the risk of cancer.

The study gave the rats a diet rich in fat. The study found that the most dangerous layer "Lower fat layer" produced greater amounts of protein FGF2 compared with Subcutaneous fat.

The researchers found that FGF2 stimulated some protein-sensitive cells and caused the tumor growth.

The study also collected visceral fat tissue from women who underwent hysterectomy. It was found that when fat secretions were rich in FGF2, the number of cells was transformed into cancerous tumors when transferred to mice.

This indicated that fats from mice and humans alike could transform from a non-tumor cell into a malignant tumor cell.
